I have went through 2 clarke ones in the last 6 months, never gave them a hard time, there just pure sh1te.
Bought a metabo yesterday. I hope it lasts cos it wasn't cheap...........

cant get much better . i have 5 metabo drills and a diamond chaser
one 650w drill i bought second hand at car boot sale for 8 quid still using it every week at work and still going strong just replaced the carbon brushes on it

I had a Metabo 9" angle grinder and burnt it out so I replaced it with another 9" Metabo I'd had it 19 years and cut slabs, blocks and RSJ with it. I looked at repairing it but it was well fubar. The brushes in them are really industrial like nothing you see in domestic goods short of washing machine motors, like squares of Dairy Milk. Quality item built to last and the windings are resin coated to stop dust fouling them and shorting out.
