Bosch drill in screwfix

-I have used an aeg and it -was spot on but like all good rechargeables there- over- priced .ive never spent---more than 100 quid on a new one -or second hand and ive only ever had 4 in donkeys years and I'm still running 2 of them daily and they get hammered

I was in Aldi in Aberdeen today and they had three of these left, no idea if they are good and didn't see what price they were:

My dewalt one has knackered batteries, but the drill itself is still good. I might see if I can get some replacement cells to get them going again.

Was the milwaukee £90 ?

That's the thing - no doubt the Milwaukee is a good tool, that's not in dispute. But if you don't have that kind of cash then this seems an OK deal.

I've used other Bosch" blue" kit over the years and its always been pretty good, at least on a par with makita or dewalt (ive also ued these brands a fair bit)in my experience. I've only had a brief go with Milwaukee gear so other than giving a first impression I couldn't comment more, though it feels well enough made

My dewalt dcd925 xrp is still going 8 years old now, almost daily use. All I have done is installed a new set of brushes and bought 2 new batteries off ebay.
Its got a solid all metal chuck and no matter how hard I have tried to kill it, it's refused to die...
Bosch and milwaukee are also very good. I have a Milwaukee cordless 1/2" impact wrench which is some tool.

just buy a new metal quick release chuck-if its crap get a metal one for not a lot of money

Its not that bad. I used the Milwaukee to build the shed so it became part of me. I just noticed the lower torque and the feel of the chuck but it does the job so I wont worry.

I bought the blue cordless drill from aldi a couple months back. For about £30ish its a fantastic little thing. Guys at work also commented at how good it is. Its miles ahead of the BnQ one I paid the same for. I would guess that the Titanium red version you linked to would be very good value (looks even nicer than the blue I have)....In my opinion of course

I used to work with MAN commissioning machinery and their guys used hilti battery drills - they were very very good but the price is eye watering! I've heard good things about aeg but never used one myself.

My cousin said the Snap-on men fitted their ramps with Hilti. If it's good enough for Snap on it must be pretty good.

I'll second that, I bought one about 5 years ago, maybe more. I think it was the cheaper one, £20 if I recall for a hammer drill. Still going strong, the battery won't hold its charge As well as it used to, I have to charge it up before use now. At that price for 5 years, you can't beat it. My previous one was a Ryobi, complete waste of space, it was supplied with 2 batteries & it would need both to drill a couple of holes. I ended up chucking it in the bin. It was several times the cost of the Aldi one & not a patch on it

Well, this about sums up my luck. (It's not a complaint by the way, just an observation of bad timing)

Bought the drill (which is very good by the way, having used it for a few weeks now. Light years ahead in terms of torque and battery life of my old 12v dewalt nicad drill) a few weeks ago. This morning I get a call from my boss asking if I could go and install some din rail, a small network switch and some new Mcb's. Need to drill a couple of 4mm holes in an electrical cabinet.

As installation work is not something I normally do, he said - "well you'll need a drill, go and buy one and stick it on expenses against the project." B£%*er!!!

If only he'd said that a few weeks ago!!

I might go and buy a Makita just to do a comparison! (Though I'll probably get another Bosch so I can swap the batteries over)
