Bosch drill in screwfix

I'd been on the lookout for a decent combi drill and bought the bosch blue with 3ah L-ion battery from screwfix for £90 just before xmas. (I had a 10% off voucher, against the price of £100 so I managed to get it for £90, which seemed a fair price for a decent make drill with a decent battery.)

It's currently on offer (Until the 19th of Jan) for £89.99 - may be of interest if you are on the lookout for a drill.

I've used it a few times but initial impressions are good, it's very compact, torquey and battery lasts well(Compared to my old NiCad powered dewalt) . I picked up a spare 4ah battery to go with it for £40 from powertoolzone.

£47 now and you need to spend over 100 for free delivery, but if you are getting other items it may still be worth it.

Nice!! I looked at Milwaukee but they were a bit more than I wanted to spend really. Lovely kit though, I saw some at a trade stand at Oswestry show earlier this year.

I'm not going to be subjecting it to heavy use so hopefully the Bosch will be good enough (seems more than ok so far..)

I borrowed a milwaukee and ended up buying a bosch based on end of stock /change of brand big discount.

No where near as powerful and not a nice to use or change bits /drills etc etc

But it does the job and allows me to save up till milwaukee comes on offer somewhere.

The one I got seems plenty powerful enough, seems to have as much poke as the Milwaukee one I tried at the show. The chuck doesn't seem quite in the same league but that's not to say it's bad.

I have the Bosch and a Makita as well which are just about to go to my son. They are not nearly as powerful or robust as the Milwaukee nor are the batteries anywhere near as good. They are great kit but not in the same league.

I had t wait some time to get the Milwaukee!

just buy a new metal quick release chuck-if its crap get a metal one for not a lot of money

Yes it's not as good as the Milwaukee one but I have a metal quick release Jacobs one here so I may change it if I feel the need. To be fair it's not that bad actually.

I'll put an update after a few more weeks of use.

The torque isn't nearly as much as the top of the range Milwaukee ones which looking at their specs online are 130 something nm but the Bosch one has 67 nm which is comparable to the "cheaper" Milwaukee ones at 60nm - seems plenty to me and much better than my 8 year old dewalt. Build quality actually seems very good for the price, though I guess time will tell on that score.

If you like the Milwaukee then check out the AEG brand.

I used to work with MAN commissioning machinery and their guys used hilti battery drills - they were very very good but the price is eye watering! I've heard good things about aeg but never used one myself.
