Bosch 10.8V/12V drill and driver

Just wondered if anyone had these:

and as to how good they are. Seem to recall briefly using someone elses at some point, and vaguely recall they seemed decent enough, but just wanted to check before forking out that they are as decent as I seem to recall. They won't see much use, rather just being for those odd occasions where the 18V gear won't quite fit, so they'll only be used for basic drilling and driving screws on occasion. I won't be expecting them to perform Herculean tasks.

Know a few with them and the only issue is with battery life, a little shorter than comparable equipment, this said, you can pick them up online cheaper than most other comparable brands, so six and two three's really.

I sold the impact gun as I never used it, I've now bought another 2 of the drill driver sets from Axminster tools for £79 each with a 2.0 battery and charger off eBay.
Used every day at work for screws and small holes up to 10mm they have more power than you'd think.

That's a decent price for the drill, battery & charger. Might order one of those if I take a liking to these. (Must admit, I've always personally had a preference for Bosch gear. Only reason I went with Makita for the 18V stuff is that one of the chaps made a valid point about being able to swap/borrow batteries/tools onsite if we all had the same gear brand. Couldn't argue with the logic, hence the Makita gear).

I've just ordered the separate drill and driver kit, (for £145 from Powertool World, not the more expensive MM kit), so I'll get to have a play with it next week, hopefully. Decided to get the drill & driver kit over the single drill to start with simply for the fact that once I have the driver, (even if I rarely use it), at least it's there if I need it. I'll be plumping for that one in the link you gave if I go for another drill as an additional though. Not a bad price at all. Cheers for that link.

Seemed to recall I liked it when I briefly tried it, (seemed very powerful to say it's only 10.8V gear), but you know what it's like once you start trying to dig through memory. Started wondering if it had indeed been Bosch and not some other brand, and then you start doubting yourself....

It may only be once in a blue moon I actually need these, but it's like I was saying to our Gert the other day, the compacts are one of those things which when you truly need them, nowt else will do. A prime example was a week or two ago. Just needed to remount some catches a few mm away from where they currently were. Just could not get close enough in with the 18V gear though, so had to leave them for a future date.

Plus, another good point is that I can bar the tool abusers from using these. They'll ne'er be needed for the general work, so no excuse for them to faff with these.

A bit cheaper too, from what I could gather whilst looking at prices. The odd Makita combo I saw listed seemed to be priced closer to the £200 mark. Definitely not worth paying a premium just for the name.

I have had a couple of the GSB 10.8 V drill drivers, they get mostly used as screw drivers. The first one was stolen when the van got cleaned out one night and was replaced without hesitation.
In contrast the GOP 10.8V multi tool is a complete waste of space when I killed mine it was replaced with a 18V GOP so I am not entirely a Bosch 10.8V fan boy.

I've got similar but Milwaukee 12V stuff, it's great, a lovely balanced size and plenty of power.

I've already got the 18V Makita version, so I won't have to suffer finding out the Bosch 10.8V one is naff. Just out of curiosity, what was so bad about it? I'm assuming it was just a bit gutless?

The batteries lasted a very short time on a charge and suffered very bad management in that the GOP could discharge them below the point of recovery. I got it for cutting out dryline boxes on ply lined walls, typically 12mm plaster board re enforced with 12mm ply to mount LED screens in meeting rooms but it also found DIY use round the home. I think that I killed two batteries and was just getting used to stopping work before the point of no return when I used it to cut out an unused 15mm copper pipe which still contained water, the GOP was soaked in Fernox treated water which killed the circuit board. The circuit board is about 20mm x 50mm and crammed with tiny SMD components, I priced up a replacement board but it was a good excuse to bin the 10.8V and go for a 18V as by that time I had 18V drill, impact driver, recip saw and SDS.

Don't buy the bosch as an alternative to 18v tools but if you already have more powerful cordless tools it's hard to beat the lightness and small size of the little impact. I love my 18v tools but on a day where i have to put in hundreds of small screws the bosch beats all.

Got a corking deal on a milwaukee set up from toolstation, think it was about £160 for 10v drill and separate driver now the new catalogs out its £295 for the same stuff.

Just out of curiosity, which charger comes with that kit; The AL1115 or the AL1130?

Gave mine a quick run earlier, and they seem quite good. Quite chuffed with them.

I'm gonna have to stop looking on Ebay and the like. Just wondered if anyone has used one of those mini grinders in the range, and as to whether they're any cop? Don't really need one, but I can envisage a few scenarios where they might actually be preferable to using a multi-tool, for sake of simplicity.

I've just had a look at my chargers and the one that comes with the twin pack is a AL1130 with 3.0 Amp output and the single drill set comes with the AL1115 with 1.5amp output. Both sets have the 2.0ah batteries.
