Got a wood preserving job to do, Not your usual thing as Its actually Bamboo, 6 meter lengths of it 6 of them in total, Its structural bamboo Guadaca species & is to be used as yards & boom on my Sons outrigger canoe.
Bamboo poles are 80mm Dia. Now the bamboo association says that the best way to preserve the stuff is immerse in a tank of borax solution, Not preserving them will mean a lifespan of just a few years before they go rotten.
We can soon knock up a tank out of scaffold boards long enough & line it with builders polythene.
But now it seems Borax is a banned or if not banned controlled substance, Whats involved with buying the stuff these days?
Buying one gallon cans of Builders yard wood preserver is not an option as we will need many gallons of the stuff.
Any ideas on whats required?
