Just got back from tesco with extra bits someone’s forgotten… it was derelict

I spent more time moving trolleys(stacked with fresh food) than shopping!

Note for next year go after 1am it’s dead in there

I went 7am yesterday. Surprisingly busy.
Costco 8pm last night. Heaving.
All sorted now. Farmshop for veg yesterday afternoon.

I went to Morrisons in Bolsover at 7.00am couldn't have been more 40 people shopping, I'll bet there was more store staff than customers....

Just driven past the local Sainsbury’s the traffic was mental

Took me half an hour to get passed it

Oddly enough there is an Aldi next to it and it was empty

We had a guy who came to work at Pilkington who had worked in a biscuit factory on permanent nights for 20 odd years - he went onto days for a while and was gutted as he had to go shopping and to the bank etc at “normal” times

Picked up the pre ordered turkey an hour ago from a farm near Leighton Buzzard.
You don't leave your car, give the ref number and they drop it in the boot.

I walked past two butchers in Bedford and they had a massive que outside

Strangely enough the fishmonger had a big line of people too

I've stopped buying turkey. Don't really like it that much

Got a 6kg leg or pork roasting away in the oven since 8:30
And a decent lump of beef for Xmas dinner on boxing Day.

Another decent lump of gammon for the new year.

It’s not Christmas unless there’s gammon in the fridge I love a cold cut when I’m peckish

Yep, there's loads of tastier meat IMHO than turkey, no matter how high they are graded etc.
I would prefer a big ham roasting away, but its tradition apparently

Meh. Taste comes first. Keep trying to persuade the wife to let me do a goose. Much more traditional.

Also given up doing dinner on Xmas day. Much better to do a fry up and have dinner on boxing Day after the event. Much more chilled day

Yup. Always have a ham. Fried up with eggs for breakfast in the mornings too.

Goose is just so much better than turkey - loads more flavour, and best of all you're not left with a mountain of cold turkey staring at you for the next week!

I'd popped into M&S and had to queue for five minutes to get in, but then drove past the butcher at Stockbridge, Edinburgh, and the queue outside (in the piddling rain) was all the way down the street.

Goose is just so much better than turkey - loads more flavour, and best of all you're not left with a mountain of cold turkey staring at you for the next week!

Decent free range chicken (born 5 minutes up the road at Hopetoun) for us every Christmas - far more succulent than a turkey.

(to be fair, that's for three of us - if we had to feed a whole buncha people then we'd probably get a turkey)

I'd popped into M&S and had to queue for five minutes to get in, but then drove past the butcher at Stockbridge, Edinburgh, and the queue outside (in the piddling rain) was all the way down the street.

Does seem pretty variable, I went to collect a food pre order from M&S Milton Keynes yesterday, got my half hour slot, they had setup a system akin to airport security with snaking lanes, order pre check etc.

It was dead! me and a few others

One of the local farm shops has put a thing on Faceache that they have some spare turkeys from no-shows. Not a thing that you want to get left with, one is tasteless enough, but several, no thanks.
