lol ,,, big wolf belly drill and a scaff pipe on the handles ,,, try telling that to the elf and safety hat.We took the heads off with the oxy set, drifted out the rest and then drilled the holes to get larger bolts in.

Turns out railway sleepers are a good source if you can deal with them. Carpenter neighbour has a bunch of them, more for the farm but people don't realise what they are.Shame real mahog was all deforested.
The cabinet maker I apprenticed to had a slab of the real stuff. Didn't want to use as it was irreplaceable so it remained whole. Likely ended up in a fire after someone bought the lot when he retired.

I got slightly scared when I realised how much money was sat in the shutters on our two bay windows, that's proper African Mahogany.
I never considered a trailer chassis and lorry chassis would be different steel as they're doing the same job relatively speaking. The cost of my new Ifor you'd be forgiven for thinking it was made from titanium not steel! It does have the suspension mounts bolted to the frame incidentally!
Been there quite a while back. We did do a line of bolted boat trailers, but that was to 'flat pack' them to go on British Rail. A lot of the stuff I see about now makes me cringe.Friend of mine who designed trailers used to say ,,,, anyone can make a good strong trailer ,,, its easy ,,,
tricky part is making it strong , and light enough to use.
Is it still a caravan or have you repurposed it somehow? I have an old trailer tent chassis and keep meaning to stiffen it up a bit and fit a flat bed.My Alko based caravan chassis is all bolted..
You get alot of torque through a truck chassis from the drive line.I never considered a trailer chassis and lorry chassis would be different steel as they're doing the same job relatively speaking.
