Recently I was looking for a more vicious way of lopping of mild steel bar.
Bolt croppers were doing my arm in quite badle.
Oddbob spotted these

Looked just the ticket.
Normspanners checked them out for me.
Nice work ladies.
The came on Friday.
At first not so impressed, stupidly short handle, dumb idea. I noticed a lip on the stupid short handle and registered that they were packed in a tiny wooden box in China. Lone handle = long box = more shipping costs.
So I mounted them tidily on the bench and slipped a 800mm length of scaff pole over the not handle.
ha Ha.
Just the ticket.
I have fitted them near flush to the worktop to keep free space and allow material to slip along the bench when chopping it up..
Great big jaws that have four faces. and there is a widget on the side to alter the leverage for bigger sections.
That is 13mm, on the low leverage it is a bit of an effort, on high leverage easy peasy.
They were happy chopping up 20mm mild steel today, a bit of an effort from me but hey 20mm!
I was going to buy the bigger version but there was an 8 week leadtime in which I would have forgotten about them.
Not much cop at 5mm strip but i have ordinary shears for that.
Well chuffed and not too expensive.
I like the simple way of adjusting for workpiece size, and the adjustable ratio.
Now lets see how long they last. They are damn chunky mind.
