Boiler just packed up help

Worcester heat slave 20/25.
Been working fine.
Noticed a nasty smell in the boiler room earlier. Either hot smell or musty damp smell not sure. Turned it off at the mains.
Tried it now as it's 2C tonight.
Came on fine at first. Inner water tank hot. But no hot water or rads.
Boiler not running now.
Any ideas?

Oh pressure gauge normal and I can hear pressure switch cl8ck when hot tap turned on.

is the lock out light on, on the conrol box if it is push it in

First check the pump is running , not just by putting your hand on it. vibrates as if running but impeller shafts
snapped hence all appears well but no flow to rads. boiler over heats and shuts down .

Another thought the overheat button may need resetting it under the panel s;lightly to the left of middle. How do I know this you may ask, we have the same boiler, and I have watched father many times

No lockout.
The red button doesn't do anything.
I don't think it is the pump as we aren't getting hot water either but the inner tank is hot.
After a bit of Googling could it be the diverter valve?

Do you normally get hot water when it is off?
If I remember you do.
It has a small inner hot water tank. That is piping hot but water from tap is stone cold.

It's always the diverter valve on my Vaillant combi. I got fed up with £100 exchanges so learnt to service them.

It's a storage combi so it's like a big combi with a cylinder attached, works on a W plan so it's like a Y plan conventional system but all squeezed into one case

That sounds like it. But of course it has been working fine all winter until today.

can the head be replaced like a mid position y plan Honeywell valve and take it off and see if the valve turns by hand

My Drayton MA1 mid position actuator packed up last week, the heating was also on when just hot water was selected. I opened the head unit, removed the motor and notice a plastic lug holding a return spring had snapped. A self tapping screw and the spring reattached worked saving me £50 for a new head unit and a £90 fallout charge.

If you’ve got no heating or hot water it’s probably either the pump or burner. Have you checked the high limit stat(s)? Might get lucky. Probably dead pump and limit stat tripped. The heat store will stay warm for quite a while.

Boiler man supposed to come today. Now morning gggrrr.
He reckons the pump.
