Are those numbers so high because of how many of them there are and have in the past been flying? Would there be similar figures if there had been and were as many airbusses in the sky. They said in that program a 737 lands and takes off every few seconds.

Statistically, the entire 737 range is no more dangerous than anything else, with the 737-NG (the predecessor to the MAX) being one of the statistically safest planes ever produced.
