Howdo.
I'm picking up a load of parts from the galvanizers this week. Among them are a number of car parts that had extensive weld repairs before they were dipped.
The welds are good and neat but in some small places will still need a slight skim of filler prior to paint. Normally, on mild steel I would apply filler straight to clean, degreased metal, but galv is funny stuff.
I'm using coach emamel paint, brush applied, for the body panels in question and have ordered top-quality stuff from Craftmasters paints. The stages the panels will go through are as follows:
But, at what stage should I apply the body filler - on bare galv steel? After the Mordant Solution? After the first coat of high build primer? etc.
Many thanks for your help.

- Liberal application of Mordant Solution/T wash to prepare galv for paint.
- Wash off Mordant Solution/T wash.
- Apply coat of etch primer from rattle-cans.
- High-build undercoat/primer from Craftmaster - 2 coats.
- Coach enamel top coat from Craftmaster - 2 coats.
