Boc/snap on/Cebora 130 wire feed

Hi folks,
my boc migmate 130 is having wirefeed trouble. I was looking for advice on things to do. I was particularly also wondering about what specifics I should look for (voltage, etc. ) if I was replacing the very feeble looking motor. It looks like something from a toy! Where could I get a decent motor from? Likely cost?

are you sure its the motor and not just the torch needing serviced?

if its a bad motor and you want an upgrade see here: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=9483 but it should be perfectly adequit for that machine

Nothing wrong with the feed motors on those, perfectly adequate for the size of machine, it'll be the torch that needs a good service; replacement wire liner, neck liner, contact tip etc.
Could also be this fella causing problems:-



They can crack through use over the years...usually caused by keep winding more pressure down on the rollers (because of a blocked torch lining ).

ive got he same machine, and when i aquired it the turny tighty bit had snapped, not being able to source one at the time there is now a big bit of m8 threaded rod going from the bottom of the machine to the top!

The toy motor will work fine for a long time, I've been using mine for years.

BOC probs

Hi chaps,

the reason i posted the message was that even with no wire even in the machine, the wire feed motor speeds up slows down and almost stops. this even happens to a point on half way (5) on the wire feed dial. I know the torch lining may need changing, but with absolutely no wire in it I am flummuxed.

Advice or ideas much appreciated.

Check the wire speed potentiometer on the pcb. Old age and abuse often means that these have bad connections between the slider and track. Try pulling the trigger while gently pulling the speed knob toward you and turning it - If it runs right, there's your problem. Simple repair if youy can get a new pot. Otherwise, check all connections, especially soldered joints on pcb near speed pot.
