correct and every man and his dog would want it for that price even though they are in business and can claim it back as an expense whereas a light private user can notIm pretty sure we will be restricted to the Y size, A decent size that will last a hobby welder quite a while, The W size would take you out of the hobby class and into the pro user category.

What number did you call ???
BOC site says 0800 333 111 for everything.
I doubt that anyone using as much gas as Paul is paying the standard prices BOC publish... i'm a nobody to them (one bloke and for something that takes me 40 odd hours to fabricate it's not uncommon for the welding to account for less than 2 of those hours) yet back when the Volkszone offer first appeared and applied to argoshield only it took me one 5 min phone call to Justin to get myself a healthy discount on the refill price of pureshield, IIRC 30%
http://www.boconline.co.uk/en/sheq/product-factsheets/product-factsheets.html give the different cylinder sizes and fill volumes for different flavours of gas.
A size W pureshield holds 2.3 the volume of a Y. No doubt the prices have changed since i did the maths a year or so ago but back then 2.3 size Y complete with environmental surcharges was ~ £15 less than the gas price alone for one W. Rental on a Y with the forum offer is significantly cheaper than for a W and there's no collection fee with the forum offer either which more than makes up for the extra trips to get a fresh cylinder unless you're miles away from a depo. I forget how many Ws per year it took for the rental to make a W better value but it was a LOT
The numbers in the OP make no sense to me, how can the gas price be £8 for a W unless that's monthly too? The standard refill price for a W of pureshield argon is somewhere around £80 - 90
BOC rental has ALWAYS been cheaper if you pay yearly instead of monthly, cheaper again if you pay for three years instead of one etc
send a pm he might have notifications on for pmTo be honest the original post by the OP don't really make sense, it would be good if he came back and explained further

yeah some people don't come on here often, leaving more questionsIt would be nice if the op posted an update for all to see.
