Hi,
I popped in for a new CO2 bottle this morning, VB size.
They've changed the shape! It's now about 18" high and 6 - 7" diameter, not sure of the volume, it looks like it'll hold less gas, but it's also about £4 more than last time I refilled about a year ago. The old bottle was about 5 inch diameter and about three feet high so the new one should be a lot more stable.
Apparently the new one will be the standard size with different colours for the different gasses. This could affect anyone who's bought an Ebay special and they're doing the 2-bottle shuffle.
Also, this may affect Scunthorpe only, they're closing their 'trade counter' and in future I'll need to go to one of the main builders merchants in town. This could be a good move as they're open on a Saturday morning. But unfortunatley the guy I always dealt with at BOC, who remembers my name even though I only see him once a year, is being made redundant after 31 years.
The new bottle is still classed as a VB and I found out today that the 'V' stands for vapour as opposed to liquid and the bottle size is 'B'.
Regards
Peter
