I've taken up the VZi deal and had nothing but grief with BOC since I opened my account. I was promised my account would be set up in 48hrs so I could collect a bottle that weekend for an urgent job, no account and no gas, no returned calls
First invoice, years rental at the wrong rate, charged for a wrongly issued X bottle by the dealer, fixed charges of £17 lumped on top, £2 charge for non DD billing. Tried to sort this out with them, messages left and no calls returned, then they've whacked on £15 late payment charges and I'm being sent letters threatening court action unless I pay within 14 days. I've had my account open for two months and only had two size Y bottles and they want £400+ off me.
Spoke with their debt recovery department this morning, explained the problem, got bounced to another number who said I'd be called back, no phone call and it's 3hrs later.
Before you take out an account with this company, know that they are a complete shower, faceless, difficult to deal with and the prices discussed on this forum is not what you get. The pricing varys across the country, will be littered with surcharges, delivery, environmental etc and then have VAT whacked on top.
The VZi deal might be the cheapest form of gas but get a full picture of the costs beforehand and do some maths on whether you need an X or Y bottle. For hobby use a Y is a heavy lump to transport and paying delivery eats into the cost saving.
