If you do this you will hate driving it so much you don’t want to go anywhere….If you worry about the planet and your pocket - go out and buy a lightweight 1.0 litre petrol car and think about how many times you need to use it (plan your journeys).
Years ago I had a 400bhp Jag XF SV8. I put it in to a local body shop to have some stone chips sorted. If you do this you will hate driving it so much you don’t want to go anywhere….
think I’ll stick with my 2l tdi at 55mpg at speed…. As opposed to the wife’s new polo with a 1l engine that I’ve never seen do 45 yet
Sometimes you get a bit more noise.Put your foot down and absolutely nothing happens except the pedal moves
But but but carbons!!!!what is better for the planet, 1929 Dodge 3.2 litre petrol 92 years old still going strong or a dead i3 at 7 years old?
So far, it is more like "trying to fix".@eddie49 is into fixing broken EVs, as well as welders.
They are water cooled. These EME units are a serious bit of kit - high amp AC to DC and DC to DC - inverter/converters.
To me they should be water cooled
They sell the Environment thing to us all,
Make us feel guilty,
We are damaging The Planet,
Then stiff us all.
If you've fallen for it,
So be it.
Until China is on board, there is no point !
Buy a petrol or diesel and be done with it,
Enjoy tour life, don't get taken in by their *#*#*hit,
The next thing will be meat !!
We'll all be vegan in 50 years
.
Don't know where the average life of an IC car of 8.6 years comes from. Just look on eBay, Autotrader etc and you will see cars 20 years old that still demand reasonable amounts. Our 17 year old Skoda Fabia diesel has only ever needed routine maintenance and replacement of consumables items like brakes, clutch, one wheel bearing, and such. There is no rust and it passes MOT without any trouble each year despite having done 181,000 miles plus does 50 mpg around town with far more on a motorway run.It is 7 years old the warranty expired 4 years ago. Yes it has only done 40k.
Yes there is recall on these i3 EME units.
Average live of a IC car is lower than you think. The average age of a full EV car has yet to be proved.
"The average age of a licensed car in Great Britain was 8.6 years at the end of 2020" (info ex Google...)
Good luck with BMW customer services - I won't hold my breath...
I agree until China closes it's 1082 coal fired power stations and Germany stops burning Lignite whatever we do will make no difference.....They sell the Environment thing to us all,

I suspect the vehicle on the far right is greenest: in terms of lifetime carbon footprint: less carbon footprint manufacturing, better fuel economy and hopefully less oil consumptionGreen cars, View attachment 296042

1926 Matchless Model L4 350cc sv, four or five owners, but the 1923-4 Matchless Model K car is a wooden monocoque skinned in steel and alloy, just like a big sidecar! and only one door,I suspect the vehicle on the far right is greenest: in terms of lifetime carbon footprint: less carbon footprint manufacturing, better fuel economy and hopefully less oil consumption
8.6 years is the average age of all the cars currently registered on the road, from the DVLA's stats on their website.
Info ex RAC/DVLA (I think).
To get an average - you have to take into account new cars have accidents and get written off in the first hours of ownership - let alone the first year.
The average is from taxed cars - most cars for sale are untaxed (used for sale cars are always older) - which alters the numbers - (makes the average lower).
This number has dropped from what I thought was 10.3 years (not sure on this fact) - but it has got lower - cars are not lasting as long. This is fact...
OK????????????
(when they did the scrapage scheme - the average age of cars scrapped was 13.9 years ish)
