BMW F32 LCI headlight problem

It might be because the body control unit isn't giving it voltage because its not coded in?

Yes could be .... I've had 50/50 from 'experts' saying it shoud/shouldn't need recoding tbh I'm up the wall with it. Can't seem to find anyone local except a guy in Liverpool who wants £180 up front whether it works or not and another guy in the States who says he can do it if I have a Windows laptop and ethernet cable for $200 ...this guy in Birmingham does sound like he knows what's what but can't touch it for a couple of weeks and in the meantime I can't use my car after dark like Cinderella!! If the weather is OK I'll try and get at the loom and see if I am getting any voltage but working outside isn't much fun when it's wet!! I was supposed to be going to Skye in a fortnight but will probably have to cancel

FIXED!!!! 5 weeks on....I had tried just about everything tested all fuses (lots of them all over the place) Someone suggested the FEM (footwell electronic module) what a PITA to get at but nothing obvious except more fuses (all OK). New headlight plug and rewired the harness. So I bought a new FLE module and someone suggested I might be able to recode it my self with my Launch Diagnostics. No one else had said they were able to recode it for one reason or another - except the guy in Liverpool who wanted £180 up front so he didn't fill me with confidence!! Oh and BMW who wanted £185 just to plug it in....

So I fitted the new module and for the third time refitted the headlight to the car. Plugged in the Launch and it found the fault- RHS FLE module fault. Went in to recode and it warned me would take some time!! Came back about 5 minutes later with APK error 119 !!

So I was up the creek again. Anyway APK error rang a bell and it's the name for most Android files. I'd had the Launch (Android based) for 4 years and never updated it...then remembered I had free updates for life ..so I updated it. Took a good 30 minutes as lots of files were updated.

Back to the car .......recode RHS headlight......one minute later ......coding complete!! AND IT WORKED!!!!! I now have all my lights back including a bl88888y indicator!!

I lost count of the number of people (experts) I spoke to who said it wouldn't recode, can't be recoded, have to change both headlights, specialist software costing £1000's that we don't have and just generally bad news

As it wasn’t working and you had the option available on the launch, was it going to make it any worse to try?
The thinktool I have seems to work well with vw, I purchased mine secondhand and wouldn’t part with any money until after it had scanned my vw t5. I’ve coded some vw modules for my neighbouring garage as there more expensive scan tools couldn’t find the old modules to retrieve any information from them.

Tbh I didn't know the Launch would code it until an honest guy in Birmingham told me to try it ..... and even then I was doubtful after being told many times how difficult it was ???
