Hey all I m a long time lurker and for a month or so a member as well on this lovely forum. I m not very active as I m a beginner into welding and to be honest I had a uniform as daily suit till a few years ago when I decided to put in the bin all and start a new episode on working as a maintenance person(never used tools in my life..you ll see soon) I had a Audi a4 b8 modified slightly outside but engine as well and that has to go as I ve bought a car for my family basically so my wife can drive around in a small suv with our son. I told her that I can t live without…..a car as project… but we agreed that the car I m going to get will be cheap. I ve watched all sorts off sites(cars just to make it clear) till I found this beauty of an old and(later found) rusty tank..I mean Bimmer but a old love of mine 2.5 petrol manual in SE trim factory xenons leather and everything working on it. I even won an eBay bid for a Tt mk1 225 quatrro but when to see the car in flesh well let s say that someone forgot to mention some issues. I was looking for golfs…Passats skoda vrs Saabs and Bimmers all petrol and manual. I started to do a few things at my 22 yrs old bimmer with 250k on the clock but one single owner and maintained with proof every year and everything sorted asap but the elderly gentleman that owned it, never owned a car with more than 80k so this one was crazy for me but was cheap and had things It ticked my box or my head(almost same). Bought it in Mid Dec 2021 and I ve managed to put less than 1k till now. I did all filters engine oil..gearbox oil..diff as well. I ve changed drivers side mirror as the old one had some marks from heating in the winter..some interior plastics..clean paint small areas where rust was seen also had a slight leak of steering fluid and a bumper on the back with a small crack. I ve got new parking sensors as one of them was down in the fight with the wall that the old man put up. Also the boot lid was bent slightly but now it s waiting for Paint and clear coat. Also change the boot gas arms or how you call them(springs?). Now All good till I started to follow the bubbling in the paint on the sills and after 2 mins of wondering around got the plastics or shields of and boy that was nasty. I ended buying a Mig welder obviously I have no idea how to use it or how I m going to sort it out. Why all the trouble then? Well this no beauty queen keeps me sane (sort of as I have some autistic traits in my brain). I m sorry for the long post and I m going to put up some pics of the mess I ve managed today. (Just forgout to say that one of the jack points went into body as it snapped but it wasn t rust well not just rust it was stupidity as forgot to use well chocks so when pushed from front up it ended bending the jack point) Adrian
