You'll still need one. You can't crimp everything. Well, not yet, they're getting close.
Plus it comes in handy for melting the end of nylon overbraid so it doesn't fray

I use whatever is right for the situation, you can’t say only crimp or only this etc

I’m adding some switches and a secondary fuse box to the Disco and it will have a mix of joints depending where they are and what they are connected to

I can't really see any circumstances where a soldered connection would be better than a decent crimp these days.
However, there are some place where it really doesn't matter too much and it's just a matter of convenience.

Found out that the best removal technique for the tubing from those push fit connectors involves heat, (hairdryer in this case), brute force and some cursing. The thing finally seems to be working okay now that I've replaced the tubing with a length of OEM tubing. Bit of a poor design though. The tubing is not the most flexible of stuff, and there's no place on the frame to lash it, so it's begging to chafe over time on the edge of the tank. Ended up cutting and slitting a short piece of the tubing to sleeve over it, and packing a piece of the insulation behind it too, where it passes the edge/corner of the tank.
