hi, im using a clarke 150 TE and recently had to cut the firewall out of my 67 beetle in 2 pieces. this morning i thought id have a go at welding it back together. the metal is so flimsy it flops about all over the place but cleaned it properly both sides and attempted to tack it.... WOW... even the tacks were blowing holes clean through it... is this because a, the metal is just to flimsy and old. b, im using co2 instead of argon mix. or c, the welder is too powerfull even at the lowest setting. it was set to 1 min the lowest it will go. should i just replace the firewall with a new sheet of steel? i was hoping not to do as its corrugated and im not sure you can buy a sheet of that.
