Blow Up Tent

We have a Combicamp Venezia trailer tent, the main body without the awning goes up in 45 seconds once you empty the luggage off the top. We've had it quite a few years now and it's never blown away in high wind or done anything else unpredictable.

I've always thought these look interesting. Useless in an open field of course and just as pricey as a Qube but very cool.

I don't mind towing in the slightest, but I can't get a caravan or trailer tent in the loft...

You need to see justme for some reversing lessons

it may sound good but i wont advise it get a leak and your tent will be down compared to the other tents out there

Well if you buy it and it has a leak you will get it cheaper and that will keep you warm in the winter keeping it up,
Anyway I thought you paid more for the ones that go down on you

There was me thinking most of the 'retail' ones look a bit small

My tent has 3 separate bedrooms and a kitchen/diner... Wouldn't really want smaller as our main tent.

Our 'big' tent takes eight and has a big living area bug it's to big to put up for a couple of nights. Fine for a week or so, takes just under an hour to pitch and the same to take down

Looks wise, you'd expect to find a bog in there.

Have a look on UK campsite.co.uk for unbiased reviews by owners for all sorts of makes and sizes. If you're not wanting to pay silly silly prices look at Vango or Outwell, as they seem to have solved the early teething problems they had with the airbeams deflating.

Vango have had problems with roofs going brittle.

Air tents are getting a lot better air tube wise with more compartmented frames appearing that dont fully collapse if it get aleak.

They are also leaning the UV is destroying the roof and sides.....so are looking at better material.

Good idea---- but waiting for the trees to grow where you want to camp ( like a show ground) would be the main draw back I would think, I bet they dont sell many in Iceland and no not the supermarket !

I've got a pheanix phreak (sp?) mountain tent.
Goes up in less than a minute (one pole, 4 pegs) - even in a blizzard.
Woke up one morning to find it was buried in snow - had to dig my way out.
Only really big enough to sleep in (and make a brew in the porchway laid down)

If it's just to sleep in, rather than holiday in, a vango force ten can be had for not huge money.
Can be put up in less than5 minutes with practice. Fly sheet can be put up first if it's raining.
And there's enough head room to sit up.
Bigger than that? No idea. GF refuses to go camping unless there's room service. And central heating.

I don't do tents, a bivi is more suited to my one man and his dog stuff but I did notice when passing the Eisteddfod camp site, (which means lots of people in tents virtually none of which are experienced tent people) almost all of the pole tents looked a mess and almost all of the air tents were still working at the end. Same story from the Royal Welsh agri show ( although I didn't see that myself ) - at work we used air shelters which were a more industrial setup for all manner of triage activities and temporary site shelter and never had a failure. Whilst it would be way over the top for normal use certainly confirms the concept is good.

I suppose punctures and leaks are inevitable but for any reasonably practical person such as @doubleboost that shouldn't be a worry. I know of one person who has had a 'deflation' of his caravan awning which he admits was his fault. He was able to repair it easily and he's not the most practical person I know ;-)

Cotswold Camping do a reasonable end of season sale at the 'Rock Bottom' outlets and they would be worth talking to... they start off very expensive but at sale time work out cheaper than most places and at least the staff know what its like to be outdoor rather than just having a shirt saying 'go outdoor'

For a family tent / shelter its what I'd go for today.

I do like pop up tents they are easy when you know what you're doing, but they provide good entertainment to watch people who dont know how to use them.

the last time I went camping this summer, one of my friends had a blow up awning, which could also be used as a tent. a tent with fibreglass poles was as quick to set up as the blow up awning.
