I have got 60's. We are actually basing ours on your top photo.
I wanted a visual method without drawing by hand ( being idle) as the amount needed reduces if you go round the outside. I need to get an accurate figure before we start as 1023 pavers are already acquired BUT we can't match them.
Yep and we have to get 60's not 50's to match the reclaimed ones.
It's ironic we had decided to follow that 1st photo you posted which has a defined outer edge we can work from.

When mine was nearly finished they gave me a pile of the lighter bricks and said just lay them out in the pattern you want and we'll put them in.

I worked with a die hard Wolves fan who had the WW logo included when he had his drive done which is fine until he comes to sell the house to a non Wolves fan.You rrsisted owt childish, I see. I wouldn't have.
Don't count them out yourself. Just give square meterage and pattern to your supplier. They have the software to get it right and then if it's wrong you won't end up footing the bill.
Its not as simple as that.
I already have half the blocks from reclaiming them last year.
Can't get matching ones so it's a case of trying to visualise what the best layout is going to be.
Id you want to make the most of the reclaimed blocks some of the companies will help.
Tell them the perimeter and they can add a border into the equation changing size until you get the ratio you are looking for.
