Hi I have gained lots of great information from this forum as I am new to spraying.
To the point I have made a real mess of my car door (see pictures) full story below.
I made a newbie mistake this week by wet sanding though my new lacquer (trying to remove high spots) into the base coat. The paint had been on one week and had air dried I used 2k base and 2k lacquer.
As I had noticed even more dents with the new paint I sanded the areas back and repaired them. I spent allot of time flatting and filler primed the repairs but not the whole panel.
I used the same paint and solvent and started top coating. I noticed the varnish like cracks and presumed I was laying the paint down too thick. I put the lights on it and waited then sanded it back (which was very tough too tough to be new paint only) and tried again with much lower paint flow.
Once more the paint cracked at the new edges.
Now I can literally put my nail on the cracked edge and scoop allot of paint away down to the primer layer.
Any advise would be much appreciated.
