Blades for circular saw

Hi Guys, I have a Ryobi 190mm circular saw that I've had for a couple of years but notyiced earlier that almost half the teeth are missing the littl lumpy end bit.

I'll only be using the saw for sutting wood and the very, very occasional piece of plastic conduit. What blade do I need? There are gazillions out there from fourpence to forty quid! Ok, so I'm exagerating a bit but it's not as simple as I thought it might have been. Do I need to get a Ryobi one or are there sort of universal fit blades available?

there's loads to choose from at 190mm but u will need to check the bore size in the center of the blade as there's a few of them to. General more teeth finer cut better for plastic, but won't last long on rough timber, a decent tct blade listed as general purpose might suit you best.

Does it have the 20 tooth blade ? The centre spindle size is what you need to look for when you buy a new blade.

If you aren't in a hurry, Lidl or Aldi often have sets of two or three fine/medium/coarse toothed blades, 20/40/60 tooth, with reducing rings for bore sizes of 30, 20, and 16mm.

Avoid the 3 pack from Silverline, quite possibly the worst performance for cutting in my Makita 190mm saw, then bought a Makita blade (didn't cost much more than the rubbish 3 pack). Proverbial "knife through butter". Used it for ripping lots of oak beams, making simple lap joints in the oak, chopping access holes in decking etc etc. Had it about 10 years now, still sharp!!

Apparently it's 16mm, thanks. I just Googled 190mm TCT Saw blade and the first thing that came up was a pack of 3 blades (20, 24 & 40 teeth) from Tool Zone for £11.49 posted! Too cheap?

Tool Zone stuff is almost universally rubbish. Best avoided.

You pick the blade size and centre hole and then choose the number of teeth to suit the material you are cutting and the style of cut. A cross-cut blade will have more teeth than a ripping blade. A blade for non-ferrous will have a lot of teeth.

Burning smell will also stop if you put the blade in the right way round, or, rather, it will appear if you put the blade in backwards.

Ha ha, my burning smell was from the lack of teeth! I won't try it backwards!
