Recently been tarting up some Bowie knives, polished up ok, doing a bit of handle work and may try and make some sheaths.
I've given them a dry sharpen on the fine side of a stone that came with a cheap set of chisels.
I've read 21 degrees for this type of fixed blade, they have come out ok, I will try and get them better to learn the skill.
Questions...
Should I be using a specific type of stone for knife blades?
I did them dry, but have seen a dude on youtube doing it with powder - whats that?
Is 21 deg applicable to axe heads, have a few of those to do.?
Apologies if this has been done to death somewhere on the forum, appreciate any advice and any reco's on a good book on the matter.
Cheers
Chris
