I did take a GF there for a weekend nearly 30 years ago. I had a TVR Vixen and the TVR factory was at Bispham along Blackpool sea front. So a mix of car bits and romance was the plan. I spent a day at the factory getting spares, that was a succes. But it was Scotch week and no matter where we went we were greeted with "hi laddie, is this yer girlfriend? You don't mind if we sit with yer do yer?" The last bit was a rhetorical question.

It remains the only airfield I’ve flown from where I’ve looked down on take off and just as we crossed the boundary fence there were police and ambulance zipping a local crackhead into a body bag

I worked just up the coast when I left college. Locals never touch the place. Over priced beer and too many p@ss heads

Last time I went to Newquay, the pavement in the centre of town was sticky with chewing gum, all the shops sold hen party fancy dress, not much else. Only went for a winter break, to go for a holiday, no thanks.

Years ago ,I was up the road in Ilfracombe,me and a friend had been paragliding at Woolacombe,group of jolly girls were heading my way,one asked if I had any evening plans ,I replied I only had £30 left and still had to drive home

Newquay council has got fed up with it and are clamping down on antisocial behaviour last I heard as they'd like to not deter tourists who don't want to see people who are off their faces everywhere ...

I've seen these in Cornwall, ironically in a place called Looe !

Its nothing new. My grandparents lived in Bristol in the late 1920s, early 30s. They, and other familly members, used to holiday at Margate in Kent.

Grandad was a strong swimmer, but breast stroke only. Picture a slim, Victorian type gentleman, with a centre parting, in a full one piece bathing costume.

He bumped a Richard the Third with his top lip, ending up with a "Dirty Sanchez". Grandmother was beside herself laughing.

aye the last 5-10 years all the derelict hotels they frequented have gone, drugs are much harder to get hold of and prostitutes are pretty much gone too.

Newquay in the off season used to look like the red light district, now its just another town.

I was in Blackpool in my Tasmin, for the 50th anniversary Back Home in 1997. Long queue of Tivs parked along the seafront, on the signal we all started up and convoyed past a professional cameraman... except for me, as the bloody car wouldn't start (typical Ford V6 injection).
By the time I got it going the cameraman was packing up
Lunch was at the DeVere, £15 for cold lasagne slopped on a plate. I pushed my chair back and bumped Trevor Wilkinson who was sat behind me, I hadn't realised
Apart from the factory tour I couldn't wait to get out of Blackpool, haven't been since.

Anyone been to the Norbreck Rally? My memory was of nasty speed humps all along the seafront road. 'Orrible things, they were (probably still are)!!
