I was looking at dark bronze green. Shade looks nice and it's the green the military used when my vice was made (it's got the military stamp) so seems fitting.
That looks very similar.
British racing green is also similar though.

Also check mid or dark Brunswick Green.

I've used a mixture of linseedoil/beeswax/graphite powder for coating indoor metalwork.
I didn't really give much of a darker colour.

Half the tins I've got are probably empty/dry. Really should sort them out and gain some more shelf space.

It generally won't, if it's a relatively smooth surface. I've coated some of my tools with it, & you'd hardly know they've been done. May as well use plain wax. It needs some decent surface roughness to give a good blacking effect.
