Anyone got a magic bullet for stripping black holding primer off of a panel prior to welding? I'm using paint stripper - but it turns to tar and is difficult to scrape off.
If it's a cheap rubbish panel it will wipe off with thinners or white spirit, decent panels come with an electrodeposited coating. Quick buzz with a strip and clean disc will get it off, or P80 sandpaper.
Aha, White spirit not doing it. 'Face off' disc seems to work. I'm only taking coating off where I'm likely to spot / Mig weld (floor panel). I'm guessing that the rest of the coating can stay and will accept overcoating with red oxide primer / chassis black / underseal.
