Bit miffed kitchen splash back

Is this normal I had fitted a screw fix splash back 2 ish months ago thankfully I have been working on my days off installing a bath room and fitting flooring so have not had the chance to finsh the job off and tile as well it's has rusted very light but will not come off with normal cleaner so will have to use something a bit more abrasive but don't want to damage the surface IS THIS normal do These have this problem all the time or have I just got a carp splash back I really want to remove and put some thing else there but will damage my new plastered wall so In a way don't want to

Any one else have this problem ?

thats not normal the ones ive fitted have been clean for years and still are

not that u should have to .if its brushed stainless u could clean it up with a green scotch pad rub up and down the grain and it will come out. must be cheap stuff and not the real deal

its clearly not stainless, given the, umm, staining

ive got a food grade stainless vessel in the garage - had a tough life and looks spotless


my vote would go on "no, not suppose to look like that"

cheap poor grade stainless seen it in a few kitchens even commercial ones over the years

Even 316 will corrode if contaminated. Use a scotch pad then oil it. If the rust comes back after that it's not a suitable grade of stainless.

I fitted a cheap one for a friend and it was useless, The best he could do till it got changed for an off cut of catering grade was use scotch bright in the direction on the "grain" and then wiped it with baby oil.

Probably 304, I've just cleaned the bbg with Harpic Max10. I missed wiping down a bit at the side, looks just like that.

any how thanks for all the responces i remembered from the fourm and yes its magnectic

only thing otherhalf has cleaned it with is soap want water and polish off with a dry cloth and its stated like that

its a screwfix thing not a cheap ebay £20 it was £50 and lasted for just 2 months its been stuck on with no more nails stuff any bright ideas on removing it im thinking of going that way and buy a glass one the other half wanted im going to have to swallow hard on this as we where haveing a bit of a thing over what to use she wanted glass back i wanted steel to match the rest of the cooker and hob and i only got my way as hers was going to take a few days to deliver where as mine i could get in 15 mins by driving to get it at screw fix

Dont you worry.. she will almost certainly not remember and even if she does she will never mention that :-)

If it pulls the plaster off, just cover up the mess with a splash back.

We mainly use 316 at work but if its exposed to certain chemicals of wire wool goes near it you can get this staining but I suspect yours is low grade stainless so easily contaminated

Throughly clean the stainless and stick the glass one to it?

Or warm it up first - carefully of course - maybe with a hot air paint stripper - heat might loosen the glue?

Place round here does bespoke glass ones - which explains why I've got a sparkly purple one . . . and the chooser of it now lives somewhere else . . . grrr

sorry i cant do that knowing that the plaster behind is not right will bug me to the point of doing it again even if i cover it over

it may peel off using a thin wide paint scraper behind it starting at a corner without taking half the wall with it

was thinking about the chease wire but have not got one but do have a large paint scraper

am going to talk to screw fix and see what they will do about it see if i can return it as faulty with luck i can as £50 loss is a big step down as i got a trade account through work and we spend a fair bit hope they will just put it down to there loss
