Got to say, I'm impressed. Apparently it has a modified AVR to make it run as well as possible with inverter welders. Coming from a '10kva' Chinese petrol generator, it's a revelation. It honestly feels like my RTech Mig 180 or 250 lay down a better weld than on mains. The Chinese machine was no doubt rated in Chinese KVA, but it wouldn't even run the 180 full pelt. This Bison feels like it has more to give if the welder would take it. I've only run it for two hours so can't comment on reliability. It is a Chinese engine, but I've had good success with Chinese petrol engines so hopefully this will be as good.
I went single phase and silent as a backup generator for the yard. It's a big beast, I've mounted it in a forklift stillage to make it easy to move about. Pretty quiet when running. I don't do much site welding, so I wanted something that would just run the machines that I already had.
