Bird strike!

I was sitting having a coffee this morning when suddenly BAM a bird hit the patio door right next to me, a second later another one pounced on it!
I got a couple of pictures before it flew off with the smaller bird.

I think the smaller bird was a Starling? But what's the predator?
Scared the carp out of me!

I’m no expert but I think it is a Sparrow Hawk.

The larger one is definitely a Sparrow Hawk . Was probably chasing the other one who saw the sky reflected in the window glass and thought he/she could escape. How wrong!!

The little one hit the window so hard it more or less knocked itself out.

Yes. Sadly I’ve experienced the same issue. Small birds, pigeons, the lot.

We've also had a small bird hit our patio doors, guessing it broke it's neck as it didn't survive

Bird hit a double glazed window at work hard enough to break the glass! I'm guessing there was already some stress in the glass.

Has one hit my mum's garage back window - after flying through the garage!

Something on glass to alert the birds there is a barrier we have 2 sticky bird outlines, after a woodpecker ran into our sun lounge

There is a modern building glass that incorporates something like a mesh of cobwebs, pretty much invisible to us, that is supposed to deter birds.

Yes, the sparrow probably had an easy ending, if it were dead or at least knocked unconscious.

Very few animals die of old age in the wild.

Similar here today - peace and quiet then a loud thump on the large lounge window.

After 10 minutes it was upright but not very lively, half an hour later it was gone so I guess it was just stunned.



No sign on anything chasing it, I saw a hawk near the house last year but that’s unusual.
