Bike Panniers

Thought I might share some photos of some pannier sets that I made a couple of years ago for mine and my mates bikes for an overland trip to Mongolia. They are a bit of a lash up as I was using anything that I could get for free - the trip was in aid of charity after all.

The bikes were a pair of Indian Royal Enfield 500's. All the photos are of my bike for some reason.

It was the first, and so far only, time I have ever done anything like that and, yes, packed for too much. Mind you everything that you can see is pretty much just tent and doss bag.

You won't be filtering much on that, will you. Did the bikes make it back?. In one piece.

At a metre wide the filtering was - well - fun. At one point in Kiev I had a car either side of me and could have just walked away from the bike without it falling over

Sadly, no, they didn't make it back at all. The charity event that we signed up for was to ride the bikes to Mongolia and donate them to an organisation out there.

Unfortunatley my riding buddy had a nasty off on a dirt road in Kazakhstan and so we had to sell the bikes and get home.

LOL! The newer Indian made ones have given up wasting oil by putting in the gearboxes, I understand they are now just grease filled!

My girlie has one, the last of the carbed models, they're all EFI now. They're nice bikes, the disc brake is pretty damn good
