As I've got into Off Roading with my new Mountain Bike, I thought I would want to maintain it properly. As such I need a workshop style stand. This makes it easier of the knees to do the work, and also avoids the girlfriend having to get involved in lifting the back wheel off the floor.
So I spoke to my mate who was able to sort me out with a variety of lengths of 25x25x2 Box section in the lengths that I required.
I spent a lot of time in the office doodling away at designs and trying to come up with a suitable way to hold the different types of bike that would be on it. From kids bikes to Y frame down hill bike to a normal framed bike. The design changed since my original idea and I am alot happier with this one.
So far, due to time constraints, all I've done is make a few of the angled cuts on the braces and also the main part where the frame will rest. The idea is to rest the frame in the V (angle bar) and use 2 buckled straps to secure it. Should work a treat really. I'm hoping to get into my mates parents workshop this weekend to weld it all up. Fingers crossed!
