Bike insurance - theft, beware!

I queried this of my insurer last year - if I'm out and back and park up in front of the house, it's covered. But overnight, it must be indoors.

That would be the sensible interpretation. I'd be getting it agreed in writing though.

This clause has been in many bike policies for years. Years ago i used to live on a main road, in a not so good area, so fitted electric garage doors, stopped at the top of the drive, press button drive in.

Now im in the sticks 3/4s of a mile from the road, with 3 gates to open, and two german shepherds i dont worry about it any more. More likley to steal the quads round here anyway.

Sad fact is though, if the naughty boys want your bike, you will only stop them by sitting watching it all the time. Locks immobilisers etc are all quite easily overcome. For example i have locking points in the floor, but on the shelf is a 9 inch angle grinder. All you can do is make it more difficult so they will go steal someone elses.

I remember a client who bought a certain car. It was full cat 5 alarm immobiliser locked in a garage with a ram raid post infront.
The thieves removed the roof and lifted it out with a crane
