Big single phase welder needed.

Looking for something over 200 amps, heavy duty for farm work.
can be 16A or 32A 240v feed.
I've been using a 200 amp BOC and 400 amp Cebora at another shed, am I just going to be disappointed by single phase?

Or am I just better off buying a new one?

I have a 200A single phase Kemppi transformer, bought used for £600. Its fine for what I do, but if you want to weld 10mm and above on regular basis, not sure you are going to get high enough amps from single phase machines?

My 250 kempi works just fine Chris but 12 is the excepted max ( a lot depends on a lot though)

BTW 32 amp plus hook up required

My Kemppi had a 25mm earth lead fitted, which seemed like it was getting hot. Just changed it for 35mm lead, and been welding................. machine is an awful lot better now! I only ever weld thinnish material, and the Kemppi is perfect for that.

At this rate I might be better off buying (another) 3 phase generator for the other shed.
or palletise my existing genny......?

Single phase might not give me enough to play with.
I tend to make BIG stuff from offcuts acquired and like to get some heat into the job.

This box weighs 200kg empty.

Unless the box is made from plate thicker than 10mm a good single phase transformer would work fine. However if you are doing mainly thicker stuff, why not get an MMA genset, and a 200A MIG for thinner sheet jobs?

I have a Lorch M-Pro 252. Just the ticket. @matt1978 will give you the particulars. I regularly run 1.0mm wire in spray transfer.

Some biggish stuff here, not sure how many amps required at supply. I was welding the other day in a farm shed with a 270 amp mig on a 32 amp supply. Changed to stick though, no gass left. Was fine full tilt on a digger bucket till the gas ran out.

not sure you are going to get high enough amps from single phase machines?

You can achieve very high welding current from a single phase machine providing the breaker is up to it. Some go up to 300/400 amps if you've got the input amperage.
On a 32amp rating Id say you've got 220-270 welding amps to play with. (10-15mm steel is weldable with that)
