Big mill listed as pillar drill

So it won't come up in the searches of people looking for mills and the thumbnail picture only shows part of it too so you wouldn't know what it is till you look, it may go pretty cheap. Thought someone here might be interested.

AFAIK, E. H. Jones is also known as Thiel, and it's not even the biggest mill they made.

Interesting...and not too far from me! I wonder who the original maker was. EHJ put their name on a variety of other peoples good quality lathes, but I can't see a reference to a milling machine!

The rotary angle adjustment would be very handy, far easier than trying to knock it into position with slightly tightened screws. If the screw is a known thread, then so many turns will give such an angle. Brilliant.

I used to have a CVA mill, it was pretty much identical to the one in the picture; table was about 28" IIRC. IT had good rigidity for a turret mill. Just not as versatile as the Bridgeport I have now.

A jig borer is designed for very accurate positioning of features like drilled/reamed/bored holes. They are very accurate and even the requirements for scraping them in are much higher. Often you'll find a little flat shelf aligned with the ways so you can stack gauges along it to set the positioning against a stop, so that you don't have to rely on the leadscrews for accuracy.

That up there is definitely a milling machine.
