Most telly makes me want to vomit
Same; I haven't bothered with it much in past three years... I do however watch far too much YouTube; I love that you can find interesting and educational programs on all sorts of topics on YouTube.

We have an imacculate Ajax universal milling machine in our shop, it could still pass for brand new with a good clean. Bought around 5 years ago, serves our needs as a repair/one-off part machine nicely. It's about as big as most people would ever want to transport/install, though. Big enough to have plenty capacity but probably "only" 4 tonnes all in.
No-one would want it in a proper machine shop though... takes up valuable space that a CNC unit could be utilising! Most machine shops are overcrowded with machines anyways!

I’m fairly certain that my old firm bought this ram borer from FH Lloyd’s at Wednesbury, at the side of Junction 9 of the M6. Across the road from what was Spear and Jackson’s forge, its now a retail park, but I can picture it whenever I go past the place.
And we also bought a Richards borer of similar configuration that was one of only 3 that they made. The main head had a 20 ton balance weight inside the column which turned out to be too light, so the Richards boys mounted another 10 ton weight on rails behind the column
. Other than that, every other lift was 30 ton, head, column,tables and bed castings, all of them. Seriously heavy engineering that will never return.
