I've been working on this for a few months now, held up a bit by bad weather. I bought it off ebay before Christmas, not running, some rust but looked to have a much better body than most. It's a 1982 (series 2) 635 CSi with Getrag dogleg gearbox and some quite nice factory extras - no a/c but I'm not too upset about that. The engine is a 3.5 straight 6 with Bosch Jetronic, no points, all ecu controlled - quite advanced for 82.
I spent weeks and weeks trying to get it started and eventually it fired up - I think it was a faulty sensor... It quickly became evident that the gearbox wasn't working and upon inspection I found the layshaft bearing had gone - taking gout most gears with it. Not good as these boxes cost around £3500 - they're popular for track racing etc. Fortunately someone on the Bigcoupe forum sorted me out with a replacement for much less.
I knew there was rust in the ends of the sills and around the rear lights so started welding the car a few weeks ago. The OS sill didn't look too bad until I started poking my screw driver along the floor-pan / sill seam. In the end I had to cut out quite a long strip and redo a poor past repair to the sub-frame mount.
Done the drivers floor-pan, just on the rear OS wheelarch, need to do the rear light surrounds and NS rear sill (which is actually not that bad). Sorry that there aren't more photos - will upload as things progress. I'm using a Jasic Pro 160 with fluxed wire - I got fed up with the tanks of gas. It's okay, maybe a bit messier than using gas bottles but that may be my technique.
