Enough progress has been made where I think I can show it to you all.
It’s been very stressful with the electronics, the structural side of it and digging it all out etc.
So as you’re probably all aware, I bought some 100mm box, 8mm wall thickness for the main gate post. Then I think 80x40mm with 4mm wall thickness for the receiver post.
I welded roots (I guess it’s called) onto the bottom of the 100mm box first. One of the roots goes 1100 or 1200mm (I forgot ) towards the other end of the gate so that’s over l 1/3 of the length of the gate rooted out. The it goes about 300mm in the opposite direction and I think 600mm away from my house (this is where it’ll face when it’s open) I welded on some brackets to bolt it to the house as well.
I haven’t really stick welded a lot before but I think i did a good job.
Holes dug out with a little bit of help. If you’re wondering why the cable run is where it is, it’s because there was loads of concrete joins that were very wonky and cracked so I cut it out and squared it all up. I hate things being wonky
The keypads I bought were 5mm wider than the receiver post so made a backing plate and welded it on.
I spent a while working out how to route the cables for the two mag locks. Finally the best thing I could come up with wat a t piece and drill a hole then square up one side. Now both bits of conduit can meet in the middle and go into the post.
