What reservoir did they stick oil in? Any car I've had, if you opened the header tank/expansion tank with it hot, you'd have to be quick to avoid being scalded from the fountain of now boiling water released when the pressure was reduced from opening the cap.

Radiator expansion tank, It wouldn't have got that hot to be pressurized or boiling, when I took for a test drive did less than half a mile and he said that's fine and came home. it was father that twigged how cold the oil was. It was quite intimidating really, and im no pushover lol had I been on my own I think I would have probably got caught, 3 guys two were quite large, mum said there was another in their car. In the end all turned out ok

If you did sell to those slimeys, they would be trying to get a warranty claim

Not sure if I reported it here at the time, but I had the self same thing from a bunch of East Blockies who turned up when I advertised my old daily driver. Unfortunately for them, I had checked all the levels the night before. So when I got a load of 'it's got a blown head gasket, needs hugely expensive repair etc.' bo**ocks from them, I told them that the coolant was perfectly clean last night, either buy the car or go away. They bought it, but when they had gone, I discovered that they had palmed £50 of the money back. I googled this scam a bit later, apparently it's quite common, and is known as the "Romanian oil trick"

My sister worked behind the counter in a shop for a few years and she was good at counting money, if you gave her £100 in £10 notes she would count £110 or £120 back into your hand she was that fast.

I had the exact same scam tried on me selling an old vw Sharon. Bunch of people from a country beginning with R. Argued about everything, then suddenly there's oil in the header tank. I went mental and they piled into their van and legged it sharpish. Eventually sold it to an Albanian guy, who was dead straight with us.
