Yes think so ,an initiative started after the success of a massive Australian project along the same lines.

It is, I have the show recorded, yet to watch it all, I caught the first 20 mins.

The show is about Men In sheds, it shows how many different type of sheds there are.

I must stress it is not just for men, it is for any one.

its not just the older end that can end up like this it happens to ones even younger

i know where i get my working in the shed from both my grandad and my dad but im always tinkering or wanting to do something

Its right, the devil makes work for idle hands, instead of lads hanging around bored and getting up to stuff I'm sure ripping apart a corsa engine or making a canoe would interest some of them..

I just think if a kid had a go on a cheap buzzbox , realized they had joined steel with lightning or sawed a plank of wood and made granny a batbox it may stimulate the urge to get into a skill rather than think the only way forward is uni doing a Mickey mouse degree and coming out with nothing but debt.

The shed I am involved in, we have allsorts.

One girl has borrowed me and a gas set to mould glass rods, she has sold enough to buy her own set. Any one want her early stuff, cheep before she becomes famous.


We have one member who's wife needs a lot of care, he arranges her to do 2 days at a centre, this week they are staining the flat pack:
Bird box's.
Small garden stools,
Wall mounted bird feeders.
Plus oiling new tools handles.

So he comes down for a break and get his hands onto his ideas.

One job I am getting on with is a member old hand tools, they need cleaning and some TLC. This will allow him to potter with stuff in his nursing home.

The allotment is attracting a lot of interest, it is a growing concern. ( bad pun I know)


You Shed is what you make it, members join and how it grows is how you let it grow.

Sounds really good, funny how something relatively cheap as easy to do can make such a positive change to people's lives.

They key to an interesting life is doing new stuff often and meeting new folk. Learning some new skills is fantastic.
