I literally have a look to see what's running low once a week or so and note it down for when the relevant reps pops in.
Sometimes 2 reels of wire will last a month, sometimes might get through 3 or 4 a day, so it pays to have a rough idea of what's in the pipeline.
Extra supplies are only a call away and a few days at worst.
You can have a lot of money tied up in spares and consumables, a few of the wires we run are iro £250/reel, so the powers get a bit upset if I order too much of that to sit on the shelf for 6 months.
You can't rely on people to say when they get the last of something either. Helpful if they do though.
