If you can buy a spare part it's probably a common fault, i'd personally buy the new part but if it fails again make a new one from plate.
have u got a furnace and all the gear likeIf i had to, i'd cast a new one from aluminium, but for 17 quid, not worth the effort.

I paid for as new one yesterday as I found that SIP only have one left in stock and it might be the last one.....Dissimilar stainless rods are very high Chromium. This doesn't work with cast iron at all. That's if it is cast iron.
If it's cast iron it can be welded with Ni55 filler.
If it's cast steel then a low hi will be sufficient.
As Kent said warm it through, peen along the weld while it's hot and slow cool. I'd imagine it's probably resolved now with one method or another.
