Best type of underlay for laminate flooring

I am going to be putting down laminate flooring, on top of chipboard flooring. There is a part that is not perfectly level , where a fire place used to be. The last stuff , I used was thin grey foam sheet. I am looking for something with better insulation value, as there only 50 mm of polystyrene, under the chipboard, on top of concrete slab.
Any advice or recommendation appreciated.

It'll be hard to drastically improve things in only a few mm, especially as you already have some insulation already.

Swapping your 50mm of polystyrene for the maximum you could squeeze in of PIR (60mm? 75mm?) With a reduced thickness ply backer and/or raised floor, could, potentially (ish), double the effectiveness. 100mm of PIR would be potentially ~3x as effective as the 50mm of polystyrene. Polystyrene is good in terms of price per insulting value but isn't particularly good (compared to other board products) at insulating per mm of thickness.

Probably more upheaval and cost than is desired but that's where a relatively simple significant improvement can be made.

I'd get rolls of the foil backed underlay. Tape that down first then use the green fibre boards above

Taking floating floors up is a pita. Usually internal stud walls are built on them just to make it difficult.
