I have an ESAB Caddy Tig 2200i AC/DC with the TA34 control panel. This wasn't my first choice when I bought it about 3 years ago. I really wanted a Lorch ot a Migatronic, but the ESAB was on a 'too good to miss' offer, at under half the rrp. It's really nice to use, and Ive been very pleased with everything about it - with one exception......
If I'd known it used CAN bus connections for accessories as simple as a foot pedal, I wouldn't have even considered buying it, as I was planning to make a 'potentiometer in a box' type pedal for next to nothing. I couldn't believe how expensive the CAN pedals were. To me a remote control is a 'nice to have', not an essential, and I won't be paying that much for one on principal. I've been searching for a 2nd hand one for a long time, with no luck.
Highly unlikely, but if anyone has any of the following ESAB CAN remote tig controls for sale 2nd hand, I'd be interested:
FS002 CAN
T1 Foot CAN
AT1 CAN
AT Coarse/Fine CAN
CAN RA 12
I'd also be interested in borrowing or renting one too, as I have a CAN bus analyser and a spare programmable CAN bus module. I can probably make my own CAN remote, but I'd need to log the CAN messages coming from a genuine CAN remote.

Over the years i read a lot here but now it is time to write my first post.
It is a good opportunity to practice my english language skills.
My favourite unit is an EWM Tetrix AC/DC with a built in watercooling unit.
Same strenghts like the Lorch V30 and one or two features more.
In my opinion EWM is easier to adjust than the Lorch V the menu structure of Lorch is sometimes a little confusing for me.
No matter the Lorch is a great machine.
Both machines are compareable in a wide range of features and performance.
The EWM pulses up to 15 kHz and has a function called "active arc" that are the significant differences.
The EWM has synergic curves programmed and these work very good in my opinion. For me it is helpful because my work is changing often.
You dont have to think about it, adjust the material/electrode dia./material thickness/style of joint and it will weld very well.
Maybe, It is a little extreme setup for a hobbyist like me but I try to do my work very serious!
I use it for various Tig/MMA applications.
I do several things with it from repairs, modifications to restoration or to manufacture special parts.
I think you forgot Fronius welders from Austria.
These units have a very good reputation reliable, expensive, and top characteristics.
It is not easy to find out which setup is the best.
The question for the "best Tig setup?" should be formulated new "best Tig for the purpose XY?"
All brands have their strenghts and weaknesses.
If I had the choice:

3. Kemppi
4. Merkle

I am from Germany.
Thats why my expression lacks from time to time.
Why Mahe?
Because I have worked with a Mahe unit for Mig welding and auto body repair.
I had no problems up to today and it is doing the job.
The only thing of dislike are the synergic curves for pulse welding.
These do not work very well and you have to adjust it by hand.
But if it is programmed right it will do the job.
It won´t do it as precisely / sensitive as a Saprom or a Fronius TPS or a Kemppi unit.
Compared to a Saprom or Kemppi Pro Evo this is a disadvantage.
But for a vast amount of manual welding applications it is adequate.
The Pro´s for Mahe were the price and the upgrade-system.
But my unit is nearly 8 years old and I think they have done some improvements over the last years.
This is my opinion for today and it is only my opinion.
This could change from time to time.
My opinion is based on a mix of experiences and information and comparison of these brands.
Bear in mind I am only a simple user of these machines not a service-man or salesman.
This makes my point of view a little subjective.
I dont have the complete overview of the market.
The next thing is I dont have the ability to push the machines to their absolute limits.

Why you have chosen Lorch?
If I am right Lorch was not very common in the UK in the past.
I would say your work here in the forum was helping a lot to change that.
From my piont of view as a foreign user your concept to use this community for your business is a smart idea to push the brand.
I am also member of german welding communities/ forums and there is no one involved like you.
Your commitment for Lorch is remarkable.

In 2004, as I said I was working for MAHE, but I was getting really dispondant as the build quality and reliability was causing some problems within the market place. Prior to that I had worked at the importer for Fronius in the UK and we had made a huge market potential for the TransPulseSynergic machines. At that time there wasn't really anything from the mainstream competition that could compete, so when we left Fronius, it left a big gap for high end high quality equipment.
Around this time EWM enterered the UK market and was instantly sucessful, due to the quality of the brand and the fact that they also found a good person to manage it, so we knew that we would need another great product to be able to compete, so we looked towards the German market. As you know, the German market is the biggest in Europe and is pretty much dominated by Fronius, EWM and Lorch.
It was a win win situation because Lorch were also going through a huge expansion programe and had begun opening subsidarys/daughter companies in many other countries around the world. They had tried in the late 90's to enter the UK market but couldnt find the right people.
I am passionate about the product, because I am not a "natural" salesman and I have to really believe in what I am selling. I also like the ethos of the company as its a typical German SME family owned business with a high regard for its staff and a exciting vision for the future.
We was a totally unknown brand when we entered the UK in 2005, but slowly we are building up a great reputation for supplying high performance, high quality equipment, with lots of new products on the way.

i used a LORCH tungsten grinder on a clean room job , our supplier at the time gave me the LORCH book of welding06-07-which i treasure to this day,IMO only a company who is truly passionate about, and totally believe their product could produce such a work-very german and so good i got a few copies for 3 welding friends.
as far as TIG sets-i have used miller,lincoln and kemppi,the kemppi was the only 240 set and lives here,it,s got way more to it than i need but the mma is truly superb.a nice steady set-i,d buy kemppi again.
