I used to weld these up at thompson chassis ,I was shocked to see how bad they corroded.
It just goes to show the Paint and wax treatment was useless

I bought a brand new genuine Land Rover chassis for a 109. Due to adapting to take power steering I wanted an unglav'd item and it was "the right price". I paint stripped the chassis prior to the modifications as the plan was to have if galv'd after. It was a shock to see how rusty the chassis was under the fresh factory paint. Seems who ever supplies to Land Rover paints them without any preparation even if the chassis has been stored outside and gone rusty.
The next new chassis I bought was a Marslands and already galv'd !

I've seen loads of rust on an oil-soaked chassis too, new galvanised is the way to go. I got one from Designa Chassis in Doncaster for my SIII a few years ago.

I got mine from Richards chassis. I could have got it made up with any engine mounts etc I wanted. I had mine made without battery tray as I was planing to fit 200tdi but I fitted LPG instead

i have been looking at the ones on Richards. would quite like a td5 after speaking to shoxdr about his, but not sure what engine i am going to use. either the 200tdi that is currently in it, or i have a friend with a v8 out of a 110 that is on LPG, and he also has a 3.5L rover v8, but not LPG converted...willing to sell both for the right price, just not sure if i want a v8 yet. insurance could be an issue, only 22 and have an 8 grand claim against me for the next 2 years`

At least with a Landrover project you won't driving it for at least 2 years

The savings made will go a little way to feeding it fuel, I bet the V8 would have better MPG

its ok by the time you have rebuilt it you will be over 25 and the 8k claim well in the past
