Hi all -
Firstly just like to say many thanks for all the good posts on this forum - it's really a fantastic website.
Is a 1.7mm nozzle a bit too big to spray 1k clear coat? I'm wondering if that's my problem. So I'm looking at buying a new gun. I've currently got a FastMoverTools Suctionfed 1.7mm setup. I'm getting masses of orange peel. Tried higher pressure, thinning the clear coat etc. but after testing my other gun which is a smart repair 1.0mm mini gun the finish came out perfect. So I think it must be the big 1.7mm that's causing the orange peel.
I can't afford to spend too much, but here are some of the options for new guns. I wondered if you have ever used any of the below and could comment on their performance for 1k RFU clear coat:
1. Sealey Tools S741 - 1.4mm gravity fed gun - £50 ish
2. Devilbiss FLG5 - 1.4mm gravity fed gun - £80
3. Devilbiss SLG610 1.4mm - £60
I've heard that the Devilbiss SLG 610 isn't very good, so I assume the FLG5 would be not a lot better?
Regards,
Jim
