Best position for a fan?

The shed is mental hot in this sun. Just got back home and had a quick look around to make sure none of the aerosols had burst and it's like an oven.

So, best place for a fan? In the door pointing out to suck heat out, at the back towards the door to blow heat out or at the door pointing in to circulate air (can't see it having much of a cooling effect pointing inwards)

The welding bench is just inside the door along the left wall, but I'm happy to turn the fan down when tig welding if needed

I presume you have a window you can open? It won't make a lot of difference as long as air is flowing.

No window unfortunately, will not yet anyway, it's on the list if jobs to do to make a frame and hinge mechanism for a window above the welding bench but as yet it's just the doors and the vents in the apex panels

Ah! Then probably just inside the door, pointing outwards.

It doesn't let water in if that's what you mean...I sealed it up as I was building it to keep moisture out as plan was to insulation with camper van adhesive insulation then use low wattage greenhouse heaters through the winter to keep condensation at bay

Granted, this probably doesn't help the heat issue as it can't escape

Not a bad idea, it's 'shed green' at the moment which isn't an ideal colour...I could paint it light grey

I was meaning air leaky, So as to at least let some air in as you are trying to get the air out. I did edit that reply almost straight away as you mentioned the vents in the apex panels.

Ah, didn't see the edit.

No, the only air flow would come from the main sliding doors and then there are 2x 120x70mm slotted vents in the front and rear, but annoyingly too low to vent the bulk of the hot air out

Fan at one end blowing in through some form of inlet . . . one the other blowing out.

Roof vents are the most efficient. Natural ventilation using those rotating cowls you see on agricultural buildings move a lot of hot air up and out.
Self regulating too - the hotter it gets, the greater the air movement.

either on the floor blowing in or up above blowing out so it expels the hot air above or can blow the cooler air in of the deck air in

my father used 6 of those when he was spraying and in a 12x10 shed it took around an hour to clear the mist from a base coat on a bike tank. you can get what claim to be industrial extractor fans on ebay about the same size as a bathroom extractor but ive no idea how they work, its yet another of the items on my every growing list

Got to be whistling ' Colonel Bogey' in the workshop yesterday, somehow.
Hacksawing through gauge plate this afternoon was getting the sweat pouring, even with all the doors open and the fan on....
Just have to pace yourself, make an early start, and do what you can.

My warehouse is freezing in Winter and gets too hot in summer. Mind you I only turned our AGA off last week - was 6C here again last night.
Warehouse was 22C a few days ago - nearly passed out
Hottest I have seen it is 40C. Not much we can do - roof is about 12m high.

you can cool your warehouse down rather well if you use water using a evap system

as goes for those in sheds

if you want free in sunny weather use low voltage 40 watts either plug in or use solar

worth insulating the shed ? other half father done that with insulation i passed along to him and he said its made a good differance to his wooen shed warmer in the winter cooler in the summer
