Best place to sell some old military generators

I've got 3x Military gensets that I'd like to see go to a good home. One is a 6kw coventry climax air cooled in original trailer, the other two are onan horizontal twins.

Do any members know of a good outlet for these, or should I just eBay them?

The MVT (Military Vehicle Trust) would be my personal choice but then I'm a member and you need to be a member to sell things, I'd happily ask if an exception could be made for you. The MVT is a good place to sell your gennys, as they would go to enthusiasts.

Maybe find some stationary engine enthusiasts. There's a few facebook pages where you can put it up and someone might want them.

Anguz, I'm in Dorset. I'll get some pics up, and get the climax running - it worked well and held a full 6kw last time I ran it (18 months ago).

I've got an ONAN 900ish cc twin supposed to portable? yes if you have a hiab!
110 /240 electric start through the geny head 12v charging etc built like brick poohouse supposedly 3.5kw (army rating) but at 1500rpm, some people recon they are more like 5.

Nothing, I just thought that they might be more desirable to the military vehicle crowd and would be better placed on a more appropriate forum. They're certainly more collectors pieces than work horses so wouldn't appeal to anyone looking for a machine to put to work. The climax is a restoration project as it needs some tinwork. Electrically and mechanically it's pretty uptogether given how old it is!

It's the one with the air cooled inline 4 on it's side running at 2000 with a 2 pole 6kw slung underneath driven via a chain and a freewheel clutch! Crazy layout.

similiar to Hillman imp engine, same as old firefighting portable pumps, unusual 2000 rpm for a two pole, argh chain drive so geny is geared up? to get 50hrtz

Is the trailer sound enough for a few hundred miles of towing ? I take it's a lunette ring ?

Luckily for you (unluckily for me) the trailer probably shouldn't be used on the road. It is structurally OK and the tyres have air in them (but have cracked sidewalls), but the tinwork of the mudguards is seriously rotten. It is, as you guessed, a standard NATO ring. I move it about with the pick up hitch on the tractor. I'll dig it out of the barn at the weekend and fire it up, get some snaps.

I've got no idea how much it'll sell for. I'd like it to go to someone who can restore/use it, perhaps take it to shows etc. I'm not going to let it go for less than I can get weighing it in obviously but I'm also aware that a few have sold on HMVF a while back for the £150-300 mark in towable condition (from what I could see)...

Hmm, well I await your pictures but I'm defintely interested, any idea what it weighs ? Just thinking if I could carry it on my pickup rather than towing it, failing that I might be able to borrow a pair of wheels just to drag it up here....

I got the climax out of the barn at the weekend, bad news Tracing the lack of a spark, I've narrowed it down to a short in the primary side of the magneto... The terminal that you ground to kill the engine is permanently grounded. So unless you have a spare Lucas magneto for a flathead aircooled climax engine, it's probably spares only.
