It might actually work for what I need . In that I have a number of rigs I have made up and have forgotten which line I used....so as long as it's constant and I have a datum point to compare to a known diameter. I will get one just to settle my inquisitiveness. LolI wouldn't buy one either, I just joined in with the "find the cheapest"
No foreseeable problems, I used fishing line as a builders line for many years, this is the third one down on your list of imperial measurements, 0.135" or 0.35mm. The Gauge is Metal,not plastic.

i have micromoters and digital calipers here and ordinary ones too.
the digital one will measure the same measurment as the micromoter will 10 times out of 10 nearly.
im surprised at the accuracy but its bang on.
id still use the micromoter but mostly for the feel of the fit what you dont get with the caliper.
i bought one of these a few months ago, i find it a nice caliper.
it remembers where it is so it has absolute and incremental positions.
battery good for 3.5 yrs with normal use.
a dear item but i like it so far.
